Pros and cons of PAPAGO! Thailand (PRO) app for iPhone and iPad

PAPAGO! Thailand (PRO) app good for

i use it a lot when i come holidays in Bangkok and also when I leave Bangkok to another place in Thailand, it work good
the menu first is not in english !!! I tried to change it and with a great luck i found the language at the second point of the settings. engilsh as language default setting would be better
it is good navigation software, and update often. But everytime there is a update, it has to re-install from computer. otherwise the software cannot run on (cannot wake GPS funtion in iphone?). also, the personal favite will be erased when update. please fix it.
I bought the sygic mobile map for $59.99 and fully REGRETTED it. This map for 1/2 the price is 100% better. I will say it is only about 85% as efficient as my nevi but that is a full fledge GPS. For a phone unit, this is good.
Ive only used this for a few road trips, but so far it works great. Routing has been spot on. A few pros not mentioned in the product description: - Includes both Thai and English language maps so you can search for POIs in either language. If youve ever tried to search for a Thai name using Roman characters you know how frustrating that can be. - The user interface can be set to Chinese (Taiwan), English or Thai - The instructional voice can be set to Mandarin, English or Thai - It has three vehicle and one pedestrian routing modes. (In pedestrian mode it helped me find a hotel when Id gotten off at the wrong bus stop.) Its not perfect: - Its designed for the iPhone, so the icons and other UI elements look rather clumsy on an iPad. An HD version would be great. - The voice instructions tend to be rather chatty. For example, when driving on a highway it alerts you to and tells you to avoid every single frontage road exit. Since these can be numerous in Thailand the voice tends to drone on and on. It would be nice to reduce the level of spoken instructions to essential turns only. - Only a few POIs are displayed. I realize that this is to reduce clutter on the small iPhone screen, but it would be nice to be able to display more. - You can only zoom out so far. So, you can never zoom out far enough to view a complete route. It does have a simulation mode, but for a 1000K trip this is not a practical alternative. In summary this is a worthwhile app and a reasonable alternative to a standalone GPS device. I will definitely use it for road trips instead of my handheld GPS receiver.
It was suggested to me to use another GPS for Thailand; a big name smaller file; and a big price tag to match---NO WAY!!! My wife and I live in ChiangMai was needed to drive to Bangkok and find our way around with out friends a few times. It was amazing taking a wrong turn and Papago quickly recognized the wrong turn and correcting it right away. We have used the GPS around ChiangMai as well to find parks and waterfalls; gets us there and back home quickly. I cant imagine using another GPS program on my iPhone. (I am currently using M7 but look forward to using M8 soon!).

Some bad moments

ATTENTION… the discounted price does NOT reflect on the Bill… I download it and still get charged $23.99 Who is the culprit APPLE STORE or PAPAGO…??? Choice in the menu is sub-standard…
The Programm works. Slow, but it works. But how can i import all my kml(kmz,ov2 or something other??) for placemarks ??
Nobody should buy this. I tried several times, but all unsuccessful. It know a lot places but the routs were crazy. Garmin Thailand was 100% work, for 2 weeks trip (2.000km)
The application itself is well designed and technically working, you can get some rough directions around. however its a waste of money if you need a real GPS. directions are sometimes wrong or late (and im using iphone 4). I tried to use it in several situations and you often end up with completely wrong or non-sense directions. Better to use google maps IMHO
Have to take high way???? Even though it was so close but im stupid enough to do as it said haha Thx to papago u really make my day( *`ω´)
